A body confidence book for children

Soon to be the first published in a series of Body Confidence books for children, "Glitter Stripes" will go on a body love journey with Cambelle and her mom as they navigate how to learn about and love the skin they are in. This adorable, and poignant picture book will surely teach children (and parents) a new way of acceptance and LOVE!

When we teach young people to love themselves at an early age, we can PREVENT problems such as bullying, eating disorders, depression and poor body image as they grow older.Get on the list to be the first to know when 'Glitter Stripes' is published so that you can help to change the FUTURE now!

In March of 2017, Allison had a heartwarming conversation with her daughter about stretch marks that reached over 20 million people:

The Inspiration:

Today while I was laying at the pool with my daughter:

Her: "Why is your tummy big mama?"

Me: "What do you mean baby?"

Her: "These lines, mama." (Pointing to stretch marks on my tummy)

Me: "oh those are my stretch marks!"

Her: "Where do they come from?"

Me: "well when I was a little older than you, I got some stripes when I grew really fast! And some of these stripes are from when I had you growing in my tummy"

Her: looking inquisitively

Me: "They are shiny and sparkly, aren't they pretty?"

Her: "yes, I like this one the best, it's so glittery. When can I get some?"

Me: "oh you will get your glitter stripes when you get a little bit older baby!"

IT MATTERS HOW WE TALK TO OUR DAUGHTERS ABOUT OUR BODIES! They are listening. They are asking. And it is up to YOU to help them shape how they will feel about these things! Will you continue the shame that society has placed on you? Or will you teach her a new way of love?

I choose love 💕💕💕

Just do you

Inspired by Allison's sweet conversation about 'Glitter Stripes' (stretch marks) with her daughter that has reached over 15 million people worldwide,

While Allison was thrilled to share her message to millions of adults around the world, she felt called to create a tool for parents to be able to bring the dialogue home in a way that would truly help spread the same beautiful message of self love and body acceptance to the next generation of children!

Allison knew the importance of having engaging, colorful, and body diverse illustrations. After an international search, Allison teamed up with body positive illustrator and activist, Sanne Thijs of @fulloffrecklesillustrations to bring the story to life in a way only she can!

This is the first sneak peek image of the characters for "Glitter Stripes" showing a sweet moment between mother and daughter.

Hi! You guys!! Let me tell you my story of why I started Full of Freckles. As you can see I am a plus size lady myself. And I know the struggles you can face when you are fat. I have been called names by complete strangers, been mocked because I was jogging even been spit on. I had a whole childhood and teenage years to think I wasn't good enough. Until I was sick of that feeling. I started to love myself, little by little, freckle by freckle. And suddenly I could take on the world, but that doesn't mean the world could live with me. Although I was more confident and I noticed people respecting and liking me more because of that attitude, there were still people with lots of prejudice. Why?

I started to dive in to the body- and fat-positive movement. And it became clear. My newsfeed on Facebook started to look a lot more divers and even my own way of thinking started to change. "The beauty norm" changed and I loved seeing that diversity. But these where just pictures, how about illustrations of fat people. Have you ever googled it? All you can see are fat shaming, shy or sad people how can't be happy. I totally couldn't find an illustration that I related to. So the drawings I already started making became so much more than just my own illustration style. I want to contribute to the fat-positive movement with Full of Freckles. And make funny, cheerful and mostly happy illustrations about fat people. Because we can be that too.

Sanne Thijs

Hey babes! My name is Allie. If you haven't met me online @allisonkimmey yet, now's your chance!

I'm a mommy to two cute toe-heads and a pup, wifey to my high school sweet heart and lover of the beach. As you can tell, I spend a LOT of time in swimwear, confidently living in my size 16/18 body.

But it hasn't always been this way.

I spent most of my adolescence as an overweight, shy teen trying to avoid any situation that pushed me outside my comfort zone or put me in front of people.

I worked desperately hard to lose weight at the age of 14, when I began my first diets, restricted eating and over exercising habits. I equated happiness to thinness. That once I was able to fit into hollister jeans I'd be the popular outgoing girl I thought I wanted to be.

For 12 years I spent my existence completely consumed by my size. Fluctuating 100 pounds over the decade. Constantly comparing myself to others and never feeling enough or worthy. Even as a size 2/4 on my wedding and honeymoon, I could only see my perceived flaws.

After the birth of my daughter in 2012 I had visions of her growing up and looking exactly like me. I verbally said that I wished that she wouldn't look like me. And at that moment I realized that I needed to change...not only for myself, but for my entire family- especially my children.

And so I took the first steps to trying to find myself again, uncover my purpose, and retrain my mind to see beauty instead of imperfection. Over the course of the next 3 years I poured myself into the self help section of the book store, attended seminars, paid for expensive online courses, and began my spiritual journey. I constantly pushed myself to do exactly the things that scared me most, and the more times I immersed myself into the things I had been avoiding, it became my new normal.

Now I spend my days inspiring hundreds of thousands of women to live in their truths through my social media, exclusive online self love incubator, publications, speaking, and now children's books!
